I was fine going from Beta 2 to nightly builds to the RC without having to reinstall, but Im not so sure if thats exactly reccomened there are a few places in the changelog that say reinstalling is a good idea.

EDIT: Looking through the changelog.php file, it seems that there was one update between the Beta and RC where a reinstall was reccomended:
